Quick Review:

Another book by Christopher Berry-Dee, this time focusing on the hunting pattern of stalkers. Quite interesting to hear the lengths serial killers will go to to lure their victims into the trap.

Quick Review: Written on the Skin is a true crime multiple case overview from the forensic experts; the scientific analysis behind crime-solving.

The book goes into painstaking detail about DNA evidence in the late 80s and 90s, how maggots and larvae can reveal a time of death, and just how meticulous forensic experts have to be in their experiments.

I enjoyed the information overall, although felt the audiobook performance let it down a little as was very monotonous.

⚠️ Please do not read this book if you are sensitive to topics on or surrounding child abuse, rape, murder, crime, or traumatic experiences. ⚠️

Quick Review:

This is my second read by Christopher Berry-Dee, but he has been mentioned in a few other true crime novels, which makes me question how reliable he is as a storyteller. (Sources suggest that he claimed to know who the Babes in the Wood Killer was all along, but never made the information public.)

It’s a good read, quite graphic, and like all of his books; boastful almost to the point of distraction. But detailed all the same.

Would recommend?: Definitely, if you are interested in the psychology behind crimes. Fairly graphic.

WARNING ⚠️ Would not recommend for anyone who has been a victim of trauma, sexual or physical abuse, related to the 9/11 cases, or sensitive to gory details of murder.

A few months ago, I realised a collection of essays and posts in the form of an e-book called “Writers Are People Too”. I have now come to realise that whilst the individual pieces may stand on their own merit, my readers don’t always appreciate my non-fiction work. And to be perfectly honest with you – it was rubbish!

Writers Are People Too (In Progress)

I’m working on a collection of articles and poetry called Writers Are People Too, and I’m pretty excited.

After I postponed Searching For Katherine, I decided the best way to take a step back from the novel was to take a break from fiction for a while. And so, I am spending my summer writing articles and poetry, and exploring my recently developed strong-arm that is the world of non-fiction.

Writers Are People Too is pretty self-explanatory: it’s about how writers have lives outside of their writing careers. Many of us have dipped a toe into sharing this with the world via life-blogs (mine’s called The Life Of A 19-Year-Old Author) and it’s been pretty successful.

Writers Are People Too Cover

The non-fiction eBook will cover everything from society to personal relationships to how we live our day-to-day lives.

Writers Are People Too is humourous, but ultimately true. It’s written by a writer, about writers, for writers – and the general public. I won’t be spilling any trade secrets, but giving the world a chance to remember that writers are people too.
