Day 1: Zero to Hero – Who, what, why?

I’ve just started this 30 Day Challenge: Zero to Hero, and it’s great for new bloggers to test the water.

I’ve been blogging for a year now, but I am fairly new to WordPress, so I’m going to use this post to tell you all a little bit about me.

Who am I? Hi, I’m Melissa, or Mel to my friends. I’m nineteen and an undergraduate at Canterbury Christ Church University, Kent, England. I’m British, an atheist, and so PC it scares people.

I grew up in bars, meaning there are a few things I don’t discuss as a rule: Religion, politics, money, and football. Basically, I avoid the difficult subjects. That is not to say I’m not serious, but I think some conversations are best avoided when the person talking to you has been drinking for three hours.

I am scared of the dark, I love dogs, I want to be a writer… and my favourite colour is blue. There, have some random facts about me, because that’s what we all are: random pieces of information, and dislikes and likes, and coincidental meetings that change our lives.

Why am I writing this blog? Because I know that even if my career as a writer fails, I can still be a blogger. I can still put my voice out there, and know that someone, somewhere is reading my words. I don’t care about money or fame, I just want to be a successful writer. I just want to share my words with the world, and with all of you.

What will I be writing? Mostly blog posts, the random bit of poetry. I also post photography and I do re-blog.

So there we go, that’s me in a nutshell: occasionally intense, an aspiring writer and a little bit crazy.

Enjoy my blog!
