Innocent Beginnings (poem)

Unbutton one by one
Lowering her defences
Shy, but ready
Holding out for love
– got boring in the end.
Lying, basking in shame
not in the glory she imagined.
She pulled the covers tight
and closed her eyes,
dreaming of home.
Regret consumed her.
Innocence gone,
no name, no note.
Swelling into life,
someone grew in secret.
Searing pain,
blood everywhere,
the horror on page 6,
