My Writing Baby (poem)

You, are my baby.

I spend hours tending to you,

making sure you are perfect.

I take away the badness,

and add the sweet, the funny.

You are my baby,

I can’t stop thinking about you.

You never leave my thoughts.

I can get distracted,

but you are always in the corner

screaming for my attention.

You are my baby,

you bring me hope for a better future.
I never thought you would happen,

but here you are.

You are my baby,

my one and only joy:

my writing career, forever nurtured,

and always, always: growing.
