For You, Norman… (poem)

My cancer ribbon I got in tribute of Norman Brown, who passed away in January 2014. The tattoo is black and white to note his life-long colour-blindness.

My cancer ribbon I got in tribute of Norman Brown, who passed away in January 2014.
The tattoo is black and white to note his life-long colour-blindness.

I got a mark for you:

“In tribute”

“In memory of”

“To commemorate” –

Words weren’t enough

I needed something else.

So I put myself through pain,

here is my eulogy:

I have ink on my skin,

as I have you engraved onto my heart.

I will carry you with me, forever.
