Exhausted Writers

It’s been a long week, what with Christmas, and me travelling back and forth from Dartford to Canterbury.

Going home, especially for the holidays, has always been hard for my writing.

So I want to know what keeps you motivated when you just can’t be bothered to write.Β

  1. I only write when inspired, so I’m the worst person to answer that question πŸ™‚ I can honestly say though, that once AI find some quiet time, even if it’s for ten minutes, things start to flow through my mind. πŸ™‚

Have a good last week of the year

  2. I suppose, sometimes it’s good to take a break, then when you come back, you have lots of new Ideas. Often writing is a compulsion for me. but then again,I have no choice but to write, when at work πŸ™‚

  3. Come to think of it, I honestly can’t say I get tired of writing too often. Sure, if I’ve been writing for a few hours, I lose motivation, but it seems to come back. That said, ideas do dry up on me, and I do take regular breaks so I don’t “overexert” myself.

It’s during those times that I find a good book to read, play a video game, listen to music, or watch a show (aside from maybe doing cleaning tasks) in order to forget about writing for a while so that when I’m ready, I can get back to it with a fresh mind.

But when I’ve seriously got “the block” (lol) I think music and reading are two of the things that help the most. Reading helps in my case because it reminds me of what I’m hoping to accomplish, and music because it relaxes the mind (well, depending on the genre) and gets the creative juices flowing. πŸ™‚
